New Year Resolutions (2008)
Wow, am I behind on blogging. Holidays, traveling, and a series of technical difficulties have really been hampering my access to the blog, but the break is pretty much over and I've solved most of my technical issues, so, off we go.
I know the whole New Year's resolution is just so ‘cliché'- Yet, there is something I really like about a brand new year, a clean slate, a new beginning, resolve.
When I was a child, great emphasis was placed on making New Year resolutions. Resolution taking was something actively encouraged by my parents and became the central topic of conversation almost immediately after Christmas day was over.
Unfortunately, i couldn't make it back to Nigeria for the hols due to very tight schedules immediately after Jan. 1st. My exams also comes up on Tuesday. The year's already looking tough, but like Leonardo Di Caprio (Jack in TITANIC), I'm a SURVIVOR!!
Now, I’m calling 2008 a year of ‘momentum’, riding on last years’ changes and perpetually moving forward. And indeed, a year of growth is certainly in the cards: my new job is doing wonderfully well, already had multiple 'unofficial' promotions ((((((((hugs))))))))
I have been thinking some about my New Year's resolutions, given that I was so successful last year. So, I'm going to add a general goal, which ought to be reasonably fun to track via the blog:
RESOLUTION: I'm going to try to do 50 things I've never done before in 2008. How challenging this will be depends on how I define "things I've never done before." I've already had a discussion with one female friend about this and was already pseudo-accused of cheating...warreva!
Well, it's my life, my rules, and I'm the judge and jury on top of it all, so you'll all just have to live with my probably unstable and unstated definition. Just remember, this isn't a competition!
AGAIN: Ugo Daniels is going to be far more positive, he is going to reject all negative thoughts that enter his head, he is not going to waste his precious waking hours by sweating over the unimportant, irritating stuff that he has little or no control over.
He is no longer going to be a ‘grumpy’ young man, but a rejuvenated male adult with even more positive energy than he had last year. Ugo is going to be happier and his, colleagues, family and friends are going to notice the difference. Not only for the first month of 2008 but for the whole year!
Phwew…so, there it is…let’s hope I’ll be able to actualize it before the year runs out.
And in case you’re just tuning in, HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR!!
